World Championships 2012

This year it was held Tampa, FL in the U.S. and I participated in both the team- and the individual competition. The competition went extremely well, particularly in the team category where we managed to perform better than ever before. At the price ceremony we were awarded a silver medal in SR Team Freestyle and three bronze medals in 2x1min Speed Relay, SR Pair Freestyle and DD Single Freestyle. In the individual competition my best result was the 3 minutes Speed, where I broke my record and gained a 7th place. After a whole year of hard efforts the World Championships was a great success!

Best Academic Achievements

In june 2012 I was awarded Best Academic Achievements 2012 at the diploma ceremony.

“Jolins prestationer under åren på skolan sträcker sig över så otroligt mycket mer än att bara läsa in fakta. Sällan eller aldrig har vi sett en student med sådan förmåga att förstå, analysera, fördjupa och omsätta kunskap som Jolin. Hennes förmåga att tillgodogöra sig så många och skilda ämnesområden på en så hög nivå gör Jolin till en mycket värdig mottagare av årets pris.”

- Paul Gertsson, Principal at ProCivitas Privata Gymnasium i Malmö

Internship at Kronofogdemyndigheten

Bringing computers to Africa

This fall two fellow classmates and I went to Africa to give away computers in collaboration with Star for Life. We had the opportunity to meet the less fortunate parts of South Africa. In addition to giving away computers to eight Star Schools we taught teachers and some students how to use computers and the educational software Khan Academy. It was very rewarding and joyful to see their happiness and optimism, but there were still lots of students who had lost their optimism. Hence, we were asked at some school to inspire and encourage the students to keep studying and believing in their dreams. This experience has shaped me into a more open-minded person after witnessing the widespread poverty around the city of Durban, but I have seen lots of optimism and happiness too. I am eager to travel back.

Internship at Deloitte

In september 2011 I worked in order to get practical experience at Deloitte in Malmö. Instructed by Magnus Kenneby, I assisted him and his team, in the Corporate Finance division, in market assessments and analytics. Moreover, I got the opportunity to present business opportunities based on my own research.

Trainer and coach in rope skipping

Besides my own training I also train younger children in rope skipping, both as a coach for a team twice a week and as a trainer for a group of young skippers twice a week. I love the feeling to help others with my abilities and knowledge, and for me it is a challenge and a privilege to help them getting the best out of their talent.

The 2011 World Gymnaestrada in Lausanne

The Gymnaestrada is a grand gymnastic display with the top participants from all over the world. This year it was held in Lausanne, Switzerland, and my association, Kämpinge GF, was one of the chosen ones to participate. This year more than 20 000 gymnasts participated from 53 different countries. The experience was so much more than the shows because a great part of it was the encounter of so many people with the same interest as you from all over the world.

The FIG gala was held the two last days, in which my association and 16 other selected associations participated. More than 20 000 people sat in the audience at the four shows and one of them was broadcasted live on Swiss television, tsr2. It was an amazing experience that I will remember forever.

The next day it was qualification for the Winners’ final, which would be held on Sunday. I and two others from my association were qualified to the final. On the big day I did very well and broke a personal record in 30 seconds speed. At the end I had won all events and was named the winner and the Swedish Master in Rope skipping!
